Space Week at Surgut State UniversitySpace Week at Surgut State University
14 April 2026 г.
From April 6 to 12, Space Week was held at the Library and Information Center of Surgut State University. The event offered everyone a wonderful opportunity to experience the history of humanity’s greatest discoveries.
The central event was the exhibition “Space: Time of Pioneers” located right at the library entrance. The exhibit was dedicated to significant events in the history of Russian cosmonautics: from the launch of the first artificial satellite to the operation of modern orbital stations. Visitors were presented with an opportunity to peruse publications detailing accomplished spacecraft architects, biographical narratives of Yuri A. Gagarin and Valentina V. Tereshkova, exclusive photographic materials, and to uncover lesser-known details about the involvement of Russian academics in the exploration of the universe.
The first guests at the exhibition were schoolchildren from the Surgut Technological School and students from India studying at Surgut State University. They explored the publications with genuine interest and actively shared their knowledge about modern rockets and satellites.
Following the exhibition, participants were presented with a comprehensive intellectual program. A space quiz was held in the science and technology literature hall. Divided into teams, schoolchildren and students tested their skills on questions about the first human spaceflight, the structure of the solar system, and the most impressive space records.
The events occurred in a warm, friendly atmosphere and proved that interest in the vast expanses of the universe and the heroic history of Russian cosmonautics will never wane.
Space Week was held in Russia from April 6 to 12, 2026. On December 29, 2025, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree establishing Space Week as an annual event. The organizer of Space Week is the State Corporation for Space Activities “Roscosmos”.
